Intro to Music History & Theory, Semester 1
This online Introduction to Music History course is intended for students with a solid foundation in music, whether through formal training or self-teaching by ear, who desire to develop their understanding of musical structure, notation, and language, as well as to advance their personal musicianship. The course covers fundamental music theory and materials such as notation, rhythm, melody, harmony, form, and texture, as well as significant ear training, composition, and arranging. Students will analyze both classical and popular/jazz works in terms of harmony and form and will have ample opportunities to explore their own musical preferences.
